From office dog to K-9 celebrity: Pippa's media storm

Last month, 10KB made several media appearances. We were in the newspaper, passed by on Facebook, tagged on LinkedIn and even featured on the radio. All this media attention because we make such cool web applications? Or just because we are so good at making software that exactly matches our customers' needs? Sadly, no. We owed all this attention to Pippa, who was voted Gelderland's cutest office dog.

It started with a contest

Our office dog has its own LinkedIn page. Bizarre, of course, although you can read here that, thanks to this playful profile, we attract five times more applicants than before this profile was online. A month and a half ago, Pip was tagged by a former intern (thanks Imre!) in a contest run by the Ohra. This insurance company was looking for Gelderland's cutest office dog. Pip, of course, responded with substantiation as to why it should be her and so, a few weeks later, the Ohra was on the doorstep.

Pip in the spotlight

To congratulate Pip on her tireless work in our office, she received an extensive prize package. The Ohra had clearly read up on Pippa's preferences, because in addition to toys, a basket and a hotel stay, she got her favourite snacks (dried beef lung) and enough egg cartons to keep shredding for another few months.

The media circus

Besides a film crew from the Ohra to capture the award ceremony (you can find the beautiful result here), there was a team from the Gelderlander who made an extensive piece for the newspaper (you can find that piece here). Later that week, Linda, Pip's owner, was even featured on Q-Music in the 'winner of the week' section.

One month later

We were delighted that the Ohra set up such a playful campaign. There was cake (with Pip's photo), a large enough prize package to also put Loekas (Merel's dog) in the limelight and we received a lot of response from all over the place. Pip was even recognised on the street! Luckily, our furry four-legged friend does not wear boots, because she would be too big for them by now. By now, peace and quiet have returned, but if there is ever another competition for 'the cutest office dog in the Netherlands', Pippa will probably want to enter again!
