From office dog to celebrity: Pippa's media storm

Last month 10KB popped up in the strangest places. We made the newspaper, showed up on Facebook, got mentioned on LinkedIn, and you could even hear us on the radio. And all because our web applications are so strong? Or because our software does exactly what clients want? No, unfortunately not. That whole media hype we owed to Pippa, named the nicest office dog of Gelderland.

It started with a contest

Our dog simply has her own LinkedIn profile. That may sound crazy, but it does work, because you can see here that since that page went live we attract five times as many applicants. A month and a half ago Pip was tagged by a former intern (thanks Imre!) in a contest.

Pip in the spotlight

To congratulate Pip on her tireless contribution at our office, Ohra handed over a hefty prize package. It was clear that someone there had paid close attention to what Pippa likes. Besides toys, a bed, and a hotel night away, her favourite snack was included, beef lung, plus a mountain of egg cartons. That will keep her busy shredding for months.

The media circus

A film crew from Ohra recorded the award ceremony (you can find the result here) and De Gelderlander sent a team that wrote a nice piece for the paper (you can find that piece here). And that was not all. A few days later Linda, Pip's owner, was also called by Q-Music to join the 'winner of the week' item.

A month later

We really enjoyed that Ohra came up with such a playful stunt. There was cake (yes, with a photo of Pip) and the prize package was big enough to put Loekas, Merel's dog, in the spotlight too. We got so many reactions from all sides. People recognised Pip on the street! Luckily our fluffy four-legged friend does not wear shoes, or she would already be walking beside them by now. Calm has returned, but if there is ever a contest for 'the nicest office dog in the Netherlands', there is a good chance Pippa will join enthusiastically again.
